ok all this has been a long time comming. I finally finished installing my front mount turbo on my 68 chevy pickup. The turbo is a 60 mm so it is small but a place to start. Injectors are 62 pound.
Startup is great idle is great with my wide band right around that 15 ish mark. Normal driving seems to keep the Air fuel ratio about in that range. At any tip in or throttle my AF jumps to 10. Now with this tiny turbo the boos is there just thinking about it. This was the maden trip so it was short and very little throttle used however it does jump to the 7 to 8 psi and opens the WG. I have driven only 5 or so miles again very easy.
My BOV is before my MAF sensor. I know you may need more info but that is the start. This is a mail order tune and was considered a retune so my truck without the turbo annd larger injectors has been running great for a few years.
ANy thoughts or just maybe the tune.
thanks
Dave
edit:
just looked and found a little fuel seepage around the diaphram on the drivers side. the Fuel pressure acted ok and would go up when the vaccum was lost so it seems to be working. Guess I need another one of those to start I dont think it is pulling enough fuel thru the vaccum line to change it since it seems mimimal.
there is fuel in the line

Sounds like its running about like it should on a startup mail-order turbo tune... Its running like it should at part throttle probably because its set up to run in closed loop and as soon as you break over 105kpa its switching into open loop and pouring the fuel on to keep you safe.

ok decided to do a quick drive for gas. I chnged the fuel regulator on the fuel rails all of that seems ok. fuel pressure at 54 with vacumm hooked up and 60 when I remove the hose.
This will go to AFR of 10 and I believe that is as rich as my gage will measure so it may be going even worse. This happens as soon as much gas is given seems to be even before or just as it gets to 0 vacumm even before boost but that is a fine line. I have not gone wide open throttle.
I know most tuners will be safe on the first tune I just wasnt expecting that much. I will talk to him to see what he thinnks I just didnt know if there might be something to look for.
thanks

I would stay out of boost until you figure out the problem. If yourI wide bandband is correct, you arethe going toto wash down theto culinders with gas. Start by verifying the wide band. Buy HP Tuners MPVI Pro version and run your wide band through it. Allen should have no problem doing a mail order tune on your setup, but it would ne a lot easier for both of you if he could just email the tune instead of snail-mailing a PCM.
Besides, you should learn to tune with such a custom truck. You know that you are going to add more boost or bigger turbo, or whatever.

yea Allen did a great job before the turbo so I am sure it will all work out thats why I am looking at all the options incase I missed something but havent found anything yet. Yes I know I need to by HP tuners money is tight right now and was hoping to get this going with the mail order tune for now and yes you are correct i will add more boost or larger turbo or what ever it is an ever evolving project.
It is parked for now, Im gonna tidy up some of the stuff and get word back before I do much more driving. I need to finish the tail pipe also.
As far as the WB it was working NA before the swap so yea I assume it is working. The sensor is in my down pipe.
thanks

ok all still need help. I am waiting to hear back from my tuner as I really think it must be a bad tune as I cant seem to find anything that points otherwise.
On a last thought is my MAF placement. You can see in the picture it is in some bends, I didnt think that would hurt anything but now have read some stuff talking about turbulance or feedback or something. I am going to attemp to log some tonight or for sure tomorrow. I have logged some but didnt get the MAF frequency I now have it in there to capture.
If you can think of anything I need to check let me know. I am at the mercy of the tune right now and it is about to drive me crazy.
