Default On the rollers

As posted on the Dyno list:

NAME: BigTex
YEAR: 2003
MODEL: 1500
BODY: ECSB
ENGINE: 6.0L
TRANNY: 4L65E
DRIVE: AWD
MODS: RADIX
LOCKED OR NOT: Locked (I think)
DYNO: Dynojet
DATE: 10/25/2005
HP: 464.4
TQ: 511.8

Mods: Radix 2.75" pulley, EFILive tuning, ASM headers, Flowpro muffler, Comp cam, Flexalite fans, plus the normal bolt ons. 8psi, 93 octane only and 18* timing.

I made a mistake, plain and simple. I forgot to move my speed limiter above 125 mph. On the 3rd gear pulls, the electronic throttle control was shutting the throttle down at 5300 rpms. I didn't realize this until I had already made 3 pulls and noticed the operator was stopping the pulls by 5500 rpms. It pulls well into the 6000s where I normally shift at 6400. Anyway, I think HP numbers would have been higher had the speed limiter been correct, it was pulling well until then.

This was with full exhaust including catalytic converters, full airbox, and the heavy 20" wheels and tires through an AWD drivetrain. I just pulled the front driveshaft to make the pulls. Disregard the air fuel info, it was a tailpipe probe and was getting delayed results.

I'm pleased with the nice flat torque curve and considering my mistake, the numbers are good. Torque is sweet!

----------

One other thing to notice - look at the time between those two posted pulls. Basically 90 seconds between them. So no cool down time and the power numbers are virtually identical.

very nice Richard....when can you get back to the dyno and raise the speed limiter? I see well over 500 hp coming from that.

Oh yeah, Speedtek in Haltom City TX is having a dyno day this Saturday from 9-5 with food during lunch. I'm thinking about pulling off that trashcan muffler, stock airbox, raising up the speed limiter and running it again. They said its $35 for 3 pulls. Any other truck guys want to join in?

I'm tempted to add a splash of race gas and bump up the timing a little too.

Holy ****!, those HP/TQ curves are flat, that is some serious power under the curve/average power numbers, good job, that is really more impressive than high peak numbers IMO, although I'm sure those are there as well.

I agree with Grippy. I love those flat power curves. Like with my STS, once it 4600rmps it never falls below 500rwhp and from 4000 on it never falls below 500rwt. We except when it runs out of fuel
Congrads on the killer numbers BigTex

Thanks guys. I mainly wanted to get a "before" dyno taken care of before I get into the next round of mods. I really want to see how much of a gain I get by installing my TEA heads.
