I have been kicking the idea around of putting a remote mounted turbo on my wife's Yukon since I sold the heads and cam for the 6.0 to make a decent little motor. I am thinking with the weight of that vehicle a turbo setup would suit it very well. I was curious if I could run 9-10psi without and intercooler and run either a 6765 turbo or a 63-1. I was also thinking about instead of having the pump send the oil from the engine to and from the turbo having a seperate tank for the turbo's oil supply. If anyone has any input, suggestions, or advice let me know. The goal is 400 something wheel and improved MPG over what she has now. For my goals would I need to go into the 5.3 for valve springs or a more turbo friendly cam? Thanks

My stock 5.3 put down right at 400 rwhp at 5 psi. At 8 psi and meth it made close to 500 rwhp. T67 and no I/C. I ran 12 psi with no I/C and meth on a 370, but that motor had a c.r. of 7.8-1. I would not run over 8 psi without an I/C on a stock engine. Stick with the 5.3 and upgrade the valve springs. I got 22 mpg on the highway running 80-85 mph with the stock 5.3.
