the oem belt seems to be better at not having fayed edges, probably due to construction differences, however, what you see on your gates is normal.

Goodyear gator back has done wonders for my "dusting" issues. I would have piles of belt dust all over the brackets, nose support and hood. I switched to the gatorback and only had minor dusting. I got my Gatorback from Summit for like $50. If you are using a smaller pulley, you will need to search the part # on their website as it will be a special order. They do have them and can get just about any size you want.
