The good thing is once you have the housing swapped you will be ready for turbo relocation surgery if your other fixes don't help enough.

I think I'm gonna do the cam first actually. But in any case it isn't gonna happen till I get back from my next deployment which looks to be January. I'll be coming up next weekend with some smaller gears and see how she does at the track. You still coming right henry?

I'm leaning towards 3.42's instead of 3.23's...any advice/preferences or recommendations?? I'm swapping them out on Tuesday.

The there should be probably 8 bolts or so holding on a ring or something that keeps the turbine housing attached. Remove those, and the housing should slide right off.
What Thunder said and then move the turbo forward about 4 1/2 to 5 feet and reuse the metal gasket with a little orange rtv or the copper crap. Then you wont have any problem with that .96 spoolin!

What size tires are you running and are you running a 60E or an 80E?

I had 3.73's with my 60 and they were fine, but when I went to the 80E I had a big flat spot coming out of the hole, especially since my street tires are 32" tall. I went to 4.10's and it fixed that.

go the 3.42's you'll get great milage on the way here and won't feel so bad about leaving with your tail between your legs

I have a 80E and running 32" tall tires. My truck came with 3.23's + 60E and I actually liked that combo but was convinced to swap in 4.10's. But with this combo I'm not loading up the engine/turbo enough in 1st and 2nd gear to see full boost, and blow through the gears way too fast.
I figure if I make my gearing a little shorter I can get better gas mileage, load up the turbo better in lower gears, and consequently stay in my power band a lot longer as well.

Well...
How bout a friendly wager then Bill? I'm not ready to break into 11's yet since my current set up still requires some tweaks to it...but how bout trap speed? Whoever gets the higher trap speed buys dinner afterwards, or if your really confident in the harpoon...loser pays to top off the winner's fuel tank afterwards!
hmmmm....what do you say big boy??
