Default Quick Cam ?

I have a built 383 Stroker in the beast for now and running her NA but prepped it to run boost in the future. Naturally, I'll be getting the block refreshed (new rings, properly gaped) before I throw on the Magi but just wanted to make sure the cam I'm using is good for the application. I didn't go too aggressive since I'm going with a power adder and even used the AFR large bore heads as well. Here are the cam specs:

224/228 .581 .588 114

Thanks for the help. Oh, looking to run 12-14psi with a TVS2300 if that throws into the mix.

Yes that's a great cam for your build. Maybe a little small, but nothing wrong with it either. Be great for a driver.

Thanks, Gamble - she'll remain my daily driver. Has been since I got her new in late '03.

Thanks for the advice. I'll have to run the upgrade by my builder to see if it'll swap in when we refresh the long block

Your cam will be fine... Ask me how I know. How much advance does it have?

If anything you will want to increase exhaust duration a little to help it exhale.

With cathedral heads I like about 10* of exhaust bias and 3* of advance with close to no overlap. Duration and LSA change based on target RPM and boost.

Vortec - what size pulley are you running on your TVS1900?

2.7 upper and 8.25 (10% OD) lower.

Have you already ordered the cam?

If not I would keep those same lobes but bump up the exhaust side. Like I mentioned before 10* of split and 3* advance with close to no overlap is a deadly combo with a TVS and cathedral heads

Example: 224/234 115+3 or 220/230 114+3

I haven't ordered it yet but will indeed when I get ready to refresh the long block. I really appreciate the input - really want to get as much out of her as I can. I speced the build out with the goal of a power adder later which is why I went with the AFR 230 heads @ 72 vice 65 - kept my compression ratio down so I wouldn't blow it up later. I'll swap out the cam when I pull the motor and at first will probably do what you did and run the basic 6 rib setup until I swap out the 8 rib system and the smaller blower pulley. Hoping to get about the same boost your pushing. Should be fun... I'm going to drive the 4L60E until she gives out buy my builder gutted it when we dropped in the stroker and says it'll handle up to 1000hp before it goes **** up. I trust him - he's been building race gear for over 30 years so he knows what he's doing. Dropping in the Kooks LTs and high flow cats next week followed by the Wilwood 14" system for the front. I just retired after a 32 year Army life so I have a lot of free time on my hands Thanks again...I'll be sure to start a thread when the fun begins.
