Thanks for the replies, you mentioned those cams for darkirish and his 383. I have a 5.3 and manual trans. And am going for fun driver with occasional light towing not all out track. Would you still go with one of those? Are you thinking the blower will make up for the low end?

That depends how aggressive you want the idle, how much boost, if you had a target shift RPM in mind.

TVS1900? What other mods?

I have a stock bottom 5.3 LM7 with 100K miles. It has 1 3/4" primary LTs w/ 3" collectors and 243s milled 0.030". I will be adding a whipple 2.3 with the stock 3.875" pulley first before going to about 12 psi. The idle it has now sounds great with open headers, but I'd rather have more power/torque than a choppy idle. I was thinking 6,000 or 6,200 RPM shifts to avoid synchro issues since I don't have the triple cone synchros in this t56. I haven't put the rest of the exhaust system in.

something similar to the vinci trucker would work well

216/228 114+3. It'll have a clean chop in a 5.3. The valve events are still pretty close to TDC with the tighter LSA so it won't beg for higher RPM and it will be brawny down low, but with the 2.3 whipple I bet you could pull to 6500 very clean.

If you like the choppy idle you can afford that with this blower on a 5.3

220/232 112+3 would have a wicked idle for a blower cam in a 5.3 and the 2.3 whipple could easily overcome that slight overlap... it would actually like it. Mid range on that cam would be very very strong. Over rev would have similar characteristics as the cam above, probably pull a hair higher.

Thanks for the suggestions! I will save those specs and see if I can sell this cam, then decide which I want to go with. I am thinking the milder of the 2 would be my pick, but I may spring for the bigger one. I will only very occasionally tow and a very strong midrange sounds great as opposed to a very strong low end (traction).

Lovin' this thread, by the way. Still waiting for Kooks to ship my 1 7/8" LTs. I'll be tooling around just NA until the fall when I spring for the TVS1900. Would it be worth it to upgrade to the 2300 I wonder? I'll probably go with a slightly more aggressive grind when its all said and done as well. Can't wait to get it all in and done and then take her out to the track. Should be fun.

With a 383 you can get away with a 1900... Get away being the key words. Will it make great power with a pulley combo like mine has now? Yes. Can the 2300 make more? Yes... easily. If you're buying it new and the 2300 is only a small upcharge I say go for it. Leave yourself the opportunity to go all out if you so choose. If you are dead set on only 10 PSI then the 1900 will get the job done. If you arent sure where this will stop... 2300 is the way to go.

I have a bigger PD blower build planned right now. If you were 5.3 its a different answer. IMO the 5.3 and 1900 are a perfect match. You can run more boost than you would want to, and a great head/cam combo could really bring its flow potential to a great place while still nailing 15PSI at a blower RPM the TVS is built for and very efficient in.
