Default procharging an LQ9

So I am in the process of collecting parts for my build (2006 sierra denali LQ9). I am going with a P-1SC, IC, walbro 255, 44lbs 8.1 injectors, maxflow racing bypass valve and running 7-8# until I finish my tranny build and stall. Is there any issues boosting my LQ9 because of its high compression ratio? I haven't found much on boosting LQ9's just LQ4's and 5.3's. Anyone have any feedback? Anything else I should look into adding besides a cam? Thanks guys.

You will be fine throwing boost at that motor, you just have to run slightly less timing bc of the higher compression in comparison to the LQ4. The cam will be great, but so will headers and a full exhaust. Superchargers LOVE a good free flowing exhaust system.
If you have the money you can't beat the ARH 1 7/8" system for a boosted 6.0. That's the same route I'm going with mine... we're just doing it opposite. I'm putting in my cam this coming weekend, and the blower will most likely follow next spring.

Good luck! Let me know how everything turns out.

Nope, boost it.. You could go to 12psi and not have a issue.. But one thing to remember fuel and timing are your friend..

While you can get by with the 8.1L Marine injectors at the boost level you stated your looking for, on a hungry boosted 6.0L they are going to be maxed out at the stock fuel pressure. People running smaller engines can get away with them a little easier, but if you’re going to have to purchase a set anyway you may be better off going with a larger set now, especially if you think you may have future aspirations of turning up the boost a little more down the road.

As far as timing goes, while I don’t have any experience with specifically a Procharger, on basically identical Radix combinations, the LQ9 appeared to like about 2 degrees less timing than an LQ4 on the top end.

I also agree on the 1-7/8” primary tube ARH headers for their quality and fitment on your AWD truck. While our 2WD brethren have more choices available to them for larger tube headers, I just don’t know of any that fit the bill as well as the ARH’s for our trucks. Oh and once you do get her cam’d, stalled, boosted and tuned, she should be a beast!

This is definitely a very true statement. and they are the biggest variables to having your motor work the way it should

You definitely need larger injectors with that setup. Also, a meth kit would help you out alot with timing.

Ran my 2005 Sierra Denali LQ9 with stock cam, comp 918-16's, walbro 255 intank, 44lb marine injectors, Vortech Race bypass @ 10lbs (3.70" pulley) for over 30k miles (3+ years) without a hicup. The 44's were maxed so I never tried to bump up the boost. Ran like a champ (13.09 @106) and I'd probably still be running it today (but with a D1SC!) if I didn't decide to give turbo's a try.

Like it's been said, "It's all in the tune"...

You'll want to go with more boost, timing, cam in the future.......so save yourself some trouble and get 60# injectors right off the bat, and a meth kit.

OK so i'll deff be going with 60# injectors.

I am looking at pulling the trigger on a kit from an 00-03 truck. Procharger told me that it wouldn't fit and I would need a new mounting plate, this true???

Also they said it wouldn't work because the 00-03 trucks were mechanical throttle cable and 03-06 were electronic....what does that have to do anything?

Looking to pull the trigger on this this week so any feedback would be great. Thanks guys.
