procharger 8 rib question
#1
Hey guys, just wondering if there are any options for a 8 rib setup. I know belt slippage is an issue when running higher boost. Would adding an idler pulley to create more belt wrap around the blower pulley be a better way to go? My setup is a 04 lm7 5.3L in a 98 s10, that will have a D1SC and pushing 15lbs of boost with meth inj.

Well the motor isn't in the s10 yet. When I got the motor, it didn't come with any accessories or brackets. I was thinking of going to the salvage yard monday to pick up the alt/ps bracket. When it comes to the procharger kit, I was going to go with the 99-02. It seems the headunit sits more level with the alternator, but it could just be my imagination. I will cut a hole in the hood to clear the blower if I absolutely had to.

The one kit with the U shaped end has the pulleys located in a position that already wrap the belt good.. If you get the older style you can relocate the idler to get like 90% wrap.. That is what I did.. I do believe that all the truck kits now have been revised to the new U shaped style so it wraps the belt good to start.. I would think you would be able to get that boost on a 5.3 with out to much issue.. I am running ruffly 12 lbs on a 6.0 with some mild head work, through a very free flowing exhaust..

Like Mangled said, the newer style bracket has a good amount of belt wrap on the blower pulley. It does make the head unit sit up higher though, I'm not sure how much clearance you have with the S10. The older style bracket has the head unit sitting lower and you can swap the idler around to get more belt wrap. I think Mangled made a thread about that at some point.

Cool, thanks guys. I'll check it out. I'm not sure how much hood clearance I would have either. I do know running that much boost in such a light truck, it'll be a fun ride. I told my friends I want to run their imports when the truck comes out. They're running in the mid to high 10's, so it should be interesting to see.
