last time at the track my last run i noticed when i got back to the pits that coolant sprayed out of my reservoir tube and onto my fender and that my radiator hose was pressurized like it was going to pop. got home and opened the overflow cap and it shot off and hit the hood and coolant went everywhere. i drove the truck home from the track and it wasnt overheating or any thing and i havent had a problem with it since. that last run i made the truck was cooled off pretty good to below 160*. i have a stock thermostat in it and will be putting a 160 in it soon. just wondering if anybody knows what might be going on or has had this problem b4.

 

Moar power = moar heat = moar coolant pressure. Simple.

 

I'd do a chemical "block test" to see if you have hydro-carbons in the cooling system. If it checks out okay, don't worry about a thing.

 

They don't make you run a coolant catcher for the overflow? And Roger, why is your name yellow? I must have missed something.

i was kinda thinking it was going to be either a sticky thermostat or a head gasket going. and no they dont make us run a catcher.

 

Hm, I thought that was NHRA regs...

 

If you really want to find the problem do a leak down test to make sure your gaskets are ok.

 

wouldnt a leak down be easier? i dont know how a chemical block test works, but leak down is easy enough.

 

Could this happen by lifting the head?
