Default Porting a Radix?

I know Brian will probably slap me for asking but is anyone doing this?

I just know a lot of Mustang guys that have their stock units on the 03+ Cobras ported and love the results short of getting a KB Blowzilla.

I understand it would void warranties with the blower but I was just curious how well it works for my afterwarranty.

I must have missed somthing, I didnt know you put a Radix on the Z
Funny you are asking this question, I was wondering yesterday if anyone has ported a Whipple. Was wondering what the advantages are-does it make more boost, make it more effecient as far as outlet temps?? Or both?

Yeah, I got a little out of control when Brian posted it up for sale.

It's brand new but I have not installed it yet. It's scheduled to get installed next week or the following depending on when it comes out of the paint shop.

I have a few friends with Cobras and they really like the effects of having them ported. I would think it's basically a CFM thing. It should allow more airflow. Kinda like going from a P1 to a D1 ATI? Obviously if you are keeping the same PSI range you'll also jhave cooler IATs if it's on the high side, say around 10psi or whever these things max out efficiency wise.

I'll never catch up to times like yours with the Z but I figured it make a really fun daily driver. I'll come after you in the RCSB :p

Basically it would increase the volume of air inside the unit so instead of 112ci of air being moved per rotation, it would be more, correct? I guess the potential issue with porting the Radix might be the same as when you port a head - in the process of removing material to create volume, you could end up creating turbulence which would work against you.

If memory serves me right there is no need to port a radix or MP112 (5th generation), it's already done for you. The outlet is larger the than the M112 (ala lightning).

here's and example of what a ported blower looks like:

Ahh, so there is an M112 and an MP112. The M112 comes on the lightnings and 03+ Cobras and the MP112 is the Radix?

Then why do L's and Cobras make so much more power?

Because they run more boost?

The Lightning doesn't make more HP in stock form than a stock 5.3L with a Radix does it?

I'm not sure that they do, but if they do it could be many things,...........as far as I know there have never been any engine dyno comparisions.
