Porting 317's for my setup
#21
Run two Corsa's.
I'm running dual 3.0" into a X-pipe into two 3.0" Random Technology SS ovals mounted vertically side-by-side. Nice and quiet for cruising with minimal back pressure. Roars to life when you're on it.
2nd that. Today's CNC heads are so much more consistent port-to-port than hand ported heads. IMO, unless you pay top dollar, hand ported heads generally seem to lose low lift velocity (bottm end torque) due to "hogging out" the port to hit the big flow #. I'd pick up a set of used CNC heads (WCHH, AFR, etc) for a decent price, slap them on and recoup $250-$300 on your 317's. Plus CNC heads have a resale value if (when) you upgrade down the road compared to garage hand ported heads. That said, I've done about 5 sets over the years and it is a lot of fun and a ton of satisfaction doing it yourself.

Look for some used patriot stage 3s. I've see. I saw a few sets sell for 500-600 on ls1 tech and you should be able to get 200 or more for your stocks. People talk **** about them all the time but they flow good for the money.

Since you really dont want to give up the corsa, why not run ARH lts and where the Y merges use a flowmast 3.5" merge with a 3.5" cutout so when you really want to get on it you can open her up but still keep the corsa catback that you love.
Id do your exhaust and intake first unless you find a good deal on some nice heads.

yeah the 80e defiantly beats your 60ft with a bat to a bloody pulp, but i think its worth it and like you said your trap speed goes way up!! my trap speeds are of those running 11.4-11.5 in most cases when i only ran a 11.8 its kinda cool. but i say just pulley it down and see where your at.

You didnt gain much because you are intake limited. IE that 1900 is maxed out.
Stock48 gained 4 mph by porting his 317s and dropped a couple tenths. Many others have had the same results that werent intake limited. Id say with that D1SC he isnt at its limits so he should be fine. With that said, I think Id do a better intake system first, and get a better flowing exhaust before Id crack open the motor.

I too am considering having a little headwork done to my 317's while they are off to replace my lifters... can't afford cnc heads though, but figured this would be the best time to do it so I don't have to spend double on these gasket kits....
but problem is finding someone near me to work them. hmmmm...

think I'll be alright with oe lifters then??? the longblock I'm building has been sitting for probably about 2yrs, it's supposedly from an 05 Escalade that was totaled out around 60,000mi.
My budget is pretty tapped just doing a cam swap on it and basic refresh before I put it in the truck!

If you do have the cash get some LS7 lifters.
