Well, the pulley is on! The old one came off pretty easily, but the new one was a bear to install. No matter what I did, it would go on just a hair shy of being able to start threading the nut. Finally I resorted to brute force and put a socket over the end, and gently tapped with the head of a crescent wrench until it was on far enough for the nut to catch. Even then it was tough screwing the nut on and forcing it the rest of the way onto the shaft. But it's on and apparently I didn't damage anything.

Took it out for a drive and noticed two things. First, the boost comes on with a lot less load than before, and second, it sounds a lot better, more like an old-fashioned fire truck siren than somebody stabbing a bloated cow. As for power, it seems to have more, but I've been taking it really gentle until the PCM adjusts itself to the new conditions. After I drive it a while I'll check the fuel trims and do a KR histogram, and see what, if anything, needs tweaking. So far no pinging, but then again I didn't expect any. Will post as things progress.
