Question which one??

which one will make more power? a 383 with smallish cam or a stock 5.3l with turbo? i have both but can't afford to finish both at the same time so i'm trying to decide which one to do first. then i will do the other later on.

i'm going to put the turbo on the 383. but i have to build it and i only have money to do the turbo parts or the 383 finishing parts. i have the stroker kit, block ,and heads. but i need gaskets, bolts/studs, cam, springs, pushrods, fuel system, and all the block work like bore/hone and what not. that leaves me with almost enough to to the turbo but not quite. for the turbo i need fmic, manifold, down pipe, fuel system (same as above) exhaust, airfilter, and i think that would be it. i have the turbo, wastegate, bov, turbo timer (got it free from a friend) for like 3 years now. i get stuff as i can and i'm just ready to put something on. oh yeah and transmission can't forget that part.

i say do the 383 first then the turbo so you wont have to take the turbo off and put it on twice.

dependign on boost the 5.3 turbo would probably make more power though

taking it off to do the install of the motor shouldn't be that hard i wouldn't think. i'll be running 7psi through a gt-67. so will a 5.3 with 7 psi be stronger than a smallish cammed 383?

With the stock 5.3L, and only 7LBS the 383 could run better if it's done right. The 5.3L with 10-12PSI, a cam&springs would run circles around the NA 383.
