Default ok FI questions... compression 10.3:1

ok guys, so Im doing a l92 swap on my 6 liter lq9 and was going to stay NA and run 11:1. but... now Ive been doing research, and Im planing for my future goals. Ive decided not to mill my l92 heads. That way I can bring my compression down for FI by next summer. I was still going to run a .040 gasket with the L92 heads. from what I research Ill be at 10.3:1

that said, what type of boost can I go with? I would like turbo just cause its such a bad *** setup and sounds cool. plus I think a supercharger might fall short. The lq9 block is stock, so not trying to blow it up either.

Ive talked to KB racing and he recomended a S475?? But I seen a stage 3 on Trick Website... so Im not sure what to do, or if to peice it together.

here are some specs I have to work with. Cam is it, not changing soon. from my research seems like with the l92s this cam will be just fine boosted.

227/235 .614/.621 113
lq9 with l92s
3200 stall 4l80e 3.73
I have lpp 1 3/4 headers but I can sell to fund the build.

with the l92 setup and 11:1 na that combo is good for 450-500rwhp through manual setups.

with my few points short on compression, but with the turbo... Im wondering if this setup will produce near 6-650rwp?? and still be daily driveable with manners?

im about 60% leaning to procharger as I have headers and exhaust already.... not just contemplating that part is done...

would the procharger run on 10.8 to 11:1 compression or keep it low still like 10.3:1

thanks. D1 without a doubt if I do supercharger... Think the truck will do what i want with the d1. more mid and more top.

will the D1 make more power with the 11.1 ratio?

With the D1 I would run 10.3 like you are talking about. A D1 will keep up fine. I would use boost to build cyl pressure at that point over compression.
D1 and 10.3-1, run good fuel and meth or e85. A procharger setup with L92 heads would do better with more exhaust duration on the cam but that should still work fine. That cam with your stall speed should be a decent match. Is your truck a sc, EC or CC? Obviously the lighter the better considering a 3200 stall speed with a procharger. Prochargers like high stall speeds.

well its a tahoe... with some weight reduction. its moves good right now, so Im sure ill be more than pleased. Just the answer I was seeking. keep it 10.3 and run with the D1.

seems as if the D1 will be more reliable as well as less maintenance?

As for the less maintenance I do not know, I am not the procharger guru.

As Pat said, the L92 heads will like a decent amount more duration on the exhaust side with a supercharger. That cam also has a healthy amount of overlap at 5* which works OK in a D1, but I wouldnt go any bigger, and I think thats pushing it. With a 3200 converter in your heavy Tahoe it will feel strong, but you won't be cutting any 1.7x 60' that's for sure. I would even be surprised to see you dip below 1.90. In a perfect world I think a little less intake duration with a degree more LSA and it would work a lot better in your truck. Something like a 223/235 on a 114+4 would perform better IMO, and even thats big. I'm no cam guru, but I have spent a lot of time researching it.

That cam looks like something AndysC3 ran with his D1. It worked pretty well, but I know he was looking into a cam swap.

It may be better suited to a turbo build, but again its on the large side IMO. As an example look at Idahoblkss, he had the 80e with a converter around a 3000 with a MUCH smaller cam than you in his lighter sss with 4.10's and I don't think he ever got below a 1.80 60' time with his D1 and he was running almost 20# of boost!

Just FWI, My former personal truck in my sig had a 6l, 10.3 comp, and a S475 turbo running 14-15psi and making around 750hp to the wheel and wasn't done pulling. And that was on pump 93 and meth.

very interesting, I will love to do that in a Tahoe. Now im 60% leaning towards this setup. more like 70% if it will work better with my cam I already have, and give me more instant offline.

I notice Trick stage 3 kit is 700hp. Yours is about 50 more hp than that? Makes me interested.
