Unhappy Oil Consumption

Recently went on a road trip with the JG Tahoe 5.3 with Magna Charger. Used about 3 Lt of oil in 2200 kms ( 1400 Miles) Switched to synthetic oil about 10000 kms. ago Using Syntec 10-30. Lots of opinions as what the problem might be but a popular theme is the high detergent in the castrol oils??? Any one else have a similar problem? Also not driven hard this trip: hmmm:

Probably coming from your pcv system, is it hooked to the blower or manifold anywhere?

Yeah i would agree, your engine is probly sucking it through the pcv system.

I solved this problem by leaving the passenger hose like stock, I just cut the driver side hose and put a restriction in there (think it was like an 1/8" hole) and it completely solved the problem. Idk why it's only an issue for some people, but it was horrible for me. I would go through 3+ qts of oil per oil change. Engine had virtually zero blowby, ran excellent, decent fuel mileage, just used a lot of oil. Didn't have to add any after my quick fix.

Glad you took the time to chime in Joey, my buddy told me His 2001 GMC
5.3 went through two qts between oil service since day one

I'd previously owned a 99 gmc SWB 5.3 @ 139K miles the oil was always full
and even hard use maybe a 1/2 qt between oil changes

I'd like to know what the inside of the passenger cover looks like

ps thanks for pointing out that it's the driver side that gets the restrictor
I may just give that a whirl today looks simple enough and GM did use
fixed orfice pcv valve as a solution to oil consumption on the these trucks and SUV's
