Doesn't need to be synthetic. Low ash oils are good for turbo vehicles, along with zddp regardless of aspiration. Most auto store oils are lower in zddp but additives can be bought. I ran everything from rotella to Mobil delvac in my cummins, which ran ~75psi at 700hp on the daily.

Question for the ones running a heavier weight oil than what's recommended, does it affect the bearings in any negative way? Had an old timer tell me once that heavier weight oil can mess with bearing tolerance if its not spec'd for that weight. True?

i use to run rp 5w30 and some of the other 5w30 oils. i found that come oil change time the oil came out like water and always had fuzz on the drain plug. switched to rotella 15w40 and the engine runs quieter and when i change the oil it looks better. no more fuzz. i also live in florida. in the winter time i some times switch to the t6 5w40. everything just seems to run better with the rotella. oil press stays up but nothing crazy. when i pop off the valve covers everything is nice and clean no brown stains on stuff. turbo's put a lot of heat into the oil and it seems to destroy lower weight oils.

yep, think about it. all those things it lists get used way harder than your gasser and almost all of them are turbo charged.

i'd just run the 15w40. cheaper and handles heat real well.

I tried the T6 but it caused a loud tapping sound like a lifter was going out, I guess the lifters didn't like the thicker oil. Went back to a 30 weight and the sound went away. My oil pressure is around 50 hot idle and 80 at WOT, no reason to go any thicker IMO. The bearing clearances should dictate what weight oil you use.
