Default New 1999 turbo 5.3 Silverado

This is my second post but I have been reading and searching/learning alot this past week from this forum, might as well join it. I just bought this truck with 128000 miles for 6200 dollars. This is my first LS style motor and chevy truck.
I plan on keeping it more as a DD with simple mods. It's all stock besides one step colder plugs(dont know which ones) and a front mount S300 turbo.
The truck was built and tuned by a local shop with extra parts from thier shop. The tune is not perfect some idle problems and WOT issues. I need to get a A/F ratio gauge as it only has a boost gauge. Max boost that I have seen is about 9 pounds with just the spring. Please chime in with any build Ideas and tranny ideas. The job was not done all that great just kind thrown together so I will keep up with the Updates as I do them.

You'll want to do a 4L80 swap, get it tuned and then re do some of that work under the hood. . It'll be a good learning experience.

Why not just have the 4l60 rebuilt? I was qouted 2330.30 for a monster rebuilt 4l60 rated to 650hp with balloon torque converter shipped. The swap for a used 4l80 will come to about the same price or even more and thats not including the rebuild kit.

A junkyard 80E with a shiftkit and extra parts for the swap will be around the same cost, will hold more power, and will be more reliable than a built 60E.

The monster trans will compliment your under hood quite nicely.

What I'm getting at is dont waste your money on one. Save up for the 80e swap and you'll have a great reliable trans and it will be the right way to address the prob .

The guys that installed your kit oughta be ashamed of themselves , but you can clean up that mess pretty easily
