Default Newb/beginer turbo 2500hd questions

Not totally new but new to adding turbo to non turbo vehicle. my limited turbo knowledge comes from about 8 years ago when i had a couple of DSMs(talon/eclipse AWDs) im also a ASE master mechanic so im mechaniclly inclined and have my own welder/fab tools.

Anyways im kicking around the idea of throwing a turbo on my 01 2500HD LQ4. im looking at low boost 8-10 psi, s300 or s400, i want a pretty quick spool as i have stock converter and cam(as of now) and id rather not spin it above about 6k. i have a TBSS intake/92 mm TB about to go on and im about to install a TBSS intake/92 mm TB, EFANS, and i have a wideband as well.

So besides a turbo, wastegate, BOV, intercooler, fuel pump, and injecters (80lb? less more?) what do i need.

looking at ebay intercooler, what size fits?

walbro 255 enough pump?

s300 turbo enough for a 6.0? or go s400?

what sensors? MAP sensor? remove MAF? i want it everyday drivable/will tow with it.

do i need a boost controller or just wastgate springs?

i can fab my on hot pipes.

thanks guys and sorry for the newb questions. i tried to search, didnt really come up with what i wanted.

255 pump and 60lbs injectors should be enough for 8-10lbs

I would do a 67-72mm charger t4 with a .90 to 1.0 housing

shouldnt need boost controller just get a wg spring for what boost you want

For the intercooler you cant just stab it behind the grill, you have to set back the condenser and radiator. Its not hard to do it just takes time as I found out... I read that CX racing on ebay was of decent quality and thats where I got my intercooler and cold pipes.

Take a look at my thread, I have an 02 and same as you im still using it as a truck to tow and I have the stock converter. Everything I used is in my thread im pretty sure

I have a On3 76mm and ive never had a turbo ls anything before but it seems to spool fast to me as soon as you put your foot into it

Ive got a 2 bar from a cobalt SS and my truck was tuned speed density so no maf sensor anymore but you still need an IAT sensor

syclone/typhoon iat works really well also, plug and play besides mounting in the charge pipe

so intake air temp sensor is part of the maf correct? so you solder in a new pigtail for the different sensor?

Yes IAT is part of the MAF. I'm still running the MAF on my turbo'd 2500 but it limits you to amount of boost you want to run obviously. I would go ahead and get a 2bar from a cobalt SS like mentioned above. I have a Trick Stage 3 kit on mine and love it so far. Feel free to PM me with any questions.

You can get an s472 with 1.0 hotside cheaper that will flow better in your desired rpm range, imo. My 05 ccsb k2500hd had a 70mm Master Power and was a blast with Siemens 60lb injectors and intank Walbro 255 pump. You will either get creative mounting the intercooler or start trimming the grilles.backside to fit. Cobalt map or 3bar from diyautotune and a iat sensor from diy or 4th gen f-body will work too
