looking and acting are two different things. Are the cases affected by the heat? I'd bet so. I suggest media blast as well and some kind of paint. Honestly I still wouldn't do anything until I knew if the parts were salvagable.

If I were going to blast the case and manifold pieces, I would look into Soda Blasting. Soda Blasting uses a bicarbonate of soda-based media (baking soda), which easily removes carbon, grease, oils, gasket material, surface corrosion, paint and coatings from a variety of alloys, plastics and composites without substrate damage or distortion. One of the biggest advantages is that it will remove these items from the surface without causing harm to the substrate through distortion from heat, and is way nicer to the environment. Soda Blasting will also leave hard anodized coatings intact.

Soda also will not destroy the inner surface of the case where sealing is an issue.

x2 Heat changes metal grain structure.

I hope it works out for ya though. Just hate to see money spent on something that is " iffy"
