NEW Front Mount, guaging interest
#23
No off the truck picks yet. But in on of the pics you can see the passenger side coming down, it goes into a twilted 90 at the flange area.
OIL do not think it will be a problem, pic is a little mis leading. That tube is father back. But I will check it, and worst cast you would have to pull 1 pipe off or put a rag over it while draining the oil.
Find out tommorrow when work continues.
We are looking for 5 customers for a special price coming soon.

Wow I somehow missed this thread Rick!
Looks like a great compromise between a high front mount and a remote mount!
The theory behind it says this should be somewhere 'in between' on the continuum between spool up efficiency and reduced heat. I believe the rule of thumb is something like: the closer you get to the engine, the better the spool up, but the worse the intake air quality gets (both heat and turbulence) and the higher the temps in the turbo. What if you snorkled the intake up in front of the front cross over? Like where the SS "brake ducts" are.
As always Rick... your fab skills = me +

I ran my snorkle up to the front air dam on mine and things didn't work out too well. It was roughly 4ft of the snorkle tubing that STS gives you, and not only did I see a reduction in boost, but it melted for whatever reason. I'm not sure what it got hot on, because it clear of all pipes, and they're wrapped. It might have of just been wear in tear.
If you were to run a snorkel, make sure its of hard tubing to eliminate frictional losses and increase durability on the underside of the truck.
I didn't see a significant reduction in IAT's either, but that could just be due to the weather changes that took place over time.
