Default New forged egine boost break in

about ready to put my hole set up together, new engine trans everything. I would like to break it in on boost s that's all the motor ever knows. good idea? bad idea? will the fresh engine build bits of metal from break in ruin a turbo or no?

I don't want to speak out of turn, but I always thought that the rule of thumb was not to have a turbo on a brand new motor for the exact reason you mentioned.

Btw where in Maine are you from??

Disconnect the oil feed to the turbo and run the motor for 30 min, change the filter and do it again??

That should help get it nice and clean on the inside and reduce the risk of damage if a risk was there.

I don't think I would run the turbo without any oil going to it...

If your that worried about it rig up a in line filter pre turbo. It doesn't matter when I built my gtr there's really no option to go no turbo.

A temp inline filter sounds like a good idea. Those were my thoughts because a stock turbo vehicle like a wrx or something gets a new motor they break it in with the turbo so idk

The oil cooler ports above the oil filter deliver filtered oil, so i dont see any issue with keeping the turbo hooked up for break-in.

If you want you can have a partner hold the compressor wheel from spinning, and fire the engine with the feed line disconnected, just to clean that out.

take the turbo off, do 2-3 complete heat cycles, change the oil, drive it how youre gona drive it for the rest of its life. thats how ive always broken in an engine. not that im a real expert or anything on the matter though
