my girl friend said my truck smells like burning rubber when i got into the throtle when i was infront of her,
I have a stock pullied side mount magna charger on a 5.3.
raise your hand if you think im having belt slip issues!
im really not sure but what is that belt everyone is talkin about?
a gator or whatever
where do i get one and what length.

got a boost guage? if so watch it and see if your loosing boost. if you are then i would guess its slipping. but since its stock pullied and you have the right belt on it then i doubt its slipping

the belt i have is a gates micro-v

there is alot of black residue on the coolant resivor(spl?) thats right next to the pulley but my engion bay isnt exactly clean so it could just be crap acumulated over along period of time.

do this. leave that belt on and clean the engine. then go out and beat on it for a little while and then look again. if it does it change the belt. they are to cheap not to try

LIke fogal04 said check to see if you are losing boost. If not maybe it's the tires thats going up in smoke.

good idea i agree about the cheap part, if i am having a bit of slip harnessing that would help a bunch.

what is the brand of belt that everyone says works the best?

gates are pretty good. ive heard people talk about gatorbacks

I use the Goodyear Gatorback belts only. You can find them at Summit Racing pretty cheap.

I have used Gates mainly, however I started geting belt slip so i switched to a gatorback and it went away. The gates hold up great, however I can't say for the gatorback becuase I dont have many miles on it yet.

im doubting belt slip is the problem just trying to reaserch incase it is.
