Taller gear should spool faster if anything, rpm flashes to 3k or so off idle, its a home made log manifold with a 2.5 cross over from behind the engine, similar to what the kb racing kit is. I don't have any pic's of it. It's not great but not really to bad either, nothing that would lead me to think it wasn't flowing enough. Tune is set low 11s in pretty much all areas of boost. on the cam, I know it's not great, but iv had a 5.3 before with that cam and turbo combo and it spooled fast, something just seems way off hear.

Does the compressor spin freely by hand?

Another thing, normally if you get one it at a higher rpm like 5k or so in second gear, then you nail it you normally have nearly instant boost, this think still rolls in slow up there, won't hit full boost till it gets third.

Yes it does, spins free and doesn't show any sings of wear, if it was starving for oil I'd think the turbo would not live long, but it still feels tight as new.

taller gear doesnt actually help the combo

if homemade, what did you use to make the holes for the primaries?

on the crossover are you using a flex?

3.08 would help spool vs RPM, but not vs time....and time is where it matters. Something does seem mechanically wrong. I'd richen up the mixture proportional to how much boost you're running...so lean it out down low. That'll help torque once it starts spooling up. It's not going to fix a mechanical problem if there is one though.

Yeah, its only on a 26in tire so it really isn't geared that tall considering its only a 3600lb truck. My guess is cam timing, it seems to run fine, no excessive blow-by or anything. Just trying to see if there's anything I could be missing or try before getting into the engine.
