I am at the shop right now getting the install done on my 2006 Denali and the pcm from Nelson is not working. If I plug my old pcm back in it starts right up. Is there any relearn or special step I have to do for the VATS to except the new pcm?

Sounds like the PCM is faulty. I have had seven diffrent PCM tunes from Allen and all worked, jut needed a crank re-learn done but that did not prevent it from starting running or driving normaly.
Did you call Nelson yet?

 

You were right, had to crank motor, leave key on for 11 minutes till lock light goes out then turn key off for 30 seceonds. Repeat 2 more times and then bingo. I went through all that trouble to find out that the PCM that was shipped has a bad segment in it and had to have speed shop rig a basic tune in my stock pcm so I could limp home.

 

Well hopefully Alan will get you running asap. Is he going to overnight you a good PCM? That Denali is gonna feel a little different with a few pounds of boost

 

Right again, my speed shop hooked up the laptop only to find out the pcm would not hold the map reading. It was hanging at 14 to 15 whatever that means. They plugged back in the stock pcm and that one read 32. They said pcm was defaulted. Hopefully allen can e-mail the map to my dyno shop so I can at least drive this thing tomorrow.

 

Any suggestions on another tuner, these guys are impossible to reach and since this is a daily driver for work, I can't have it down for 2 to 3 days. My dyno shop has EFILive and told me that the tune could be e-mailed to them. Is this true?

 

Are the dyno guys unwilling to tune it?

 

They said that they could but due to the AWD system they can't use their dyno. I read on Nelson's website that they are moving and that's why I can't get through. It just sucks to have the truck down for another 2-3 days. For some reason the map sensor was really low in the Nelson pcm which was causing it to miss.

 

Yes it can be emailed. But, Alan uses HP Tuners. I dont know if the file can be converted to EFI LIve. Your dyno tuner could give you a street tune that would be safe enough to drive around on. You just wouldnt be able to get into boost until you can get it dyno'd or a full tune. It would take longer to get it dialed in on the street.
