Default Need help/advice on turning a 3” down pipe to a 4”

Hey guys! I finally started my turbo build!! To keep it short, I’ve got a Borg Warner S475 mounted on a MMI racing hot parts kit, Amazon special haha. My problem is the down pipe Is 3” and my turbine is 4”. I bought the turbo from forced inductions and went with them to get a 4” flange and I’m trying to figure the easiest way to make it work. I won’t do my wastegate routing until I get my down pipe squared away. I’m really excited and anxious at the same time because I’m not making progress like I want. Most local guys don’t have the knowledge or won’t help, I won’t beg haha. Any help works be appreciated! Or if anyone has a 4” down pipe at a decent price I may go that route.

They sell 4in to 3in exhaust pipe reducers. You can buy one and weld it all together.

You sure right. Sometimes I have to literally talk it out, either with myself or with someone else lol. I’m trying to think about every little thing, or the whole picture instead of focusing on one thing at a time. I got on eBay and ordered what I needed shortly after I made the post. With all the stuff to do during the week with the kids extracurricular, I try to work on it a little during the weeknights and a lot on the weekends. Thanks for the quick responses and I’ll keep the thread updated. Maybe somebody can make use of it one day

Decent for the price! They’re asking almost twice what I paid for it in 2020! I took a double sided but to the inside of the log a d cleaned it up a bit. I put my spark plugs in before the manifolds and I’ll likely have to take them back off to change them. It’s pretty right in there so if I could go back I’d clean up around the plug holes and get more clearance.

If I could only get someone to post a link to an elbow and filter to go over the compressor inlet....

Very nice, thanks Atomic. I may use this in the future. I especially like the pressed flange v-band. But I’m still curious about a means to filter the inlet on my compressor. Do you know of a solution for these S475’s? Thanks

Ive used these before: https://www.intakehoses.com/90-degree-elbows.html
Make sure to get the reinforced (ribbed) ones. Ive seen the smooth ones collapse and get sucked into the turbo before.
