Default Which motor for my setup?

Hey guys been gone from here a while and its about time for an upgrade. Current setup is a gen 1 trick turbo setup and a a stock 6.0 with a ls6 cam. Motor was tired when i put it in, so would like to put a built one in before i install my new turbo kit. I probably wont be racing the truck much anymore since buying a 2010 camaro ss. Will mostly be using it as a truck towing camper, boat, other toys and hauling stuff. Was looking at throwing in an lsx 376 crate motor and calling it a day. Not real familiar with LS engine builders in colorado so was thinking of purchasing a forged long block from a reputable vendor or as mention a factory crate motor. Tired of stock motors with carappy pistons and their blow by. I need somthing that will hold up under towing heavy loads. I want to pull a bigger camper through the hills but dont trust this motor for those types of trips. Any suggestions on which motor or who to by a long block from is much appreciated!

I would go with a 370 long block, as for vendors take your pick. I would start calling some of the vendors and see who has what for prices and who makes you feel the best.

Good to see ya back.

Anyone have good luck with TSP??? Ive only purchased push rods from them.

I would build the current motor in my truck, but dont want to be without a
4wd vehicle in the middle of winter. Want a long block I can swap out on a weekend.

I dont have any experience first hand, but I will say that Thompson has some great deals. If this isnt a racer then the LSx long block seems like overkill to me... how much boost will you be running?

10 psi or more if im feeling froggy

probably less when im towing.

the lsx looks appealing because it has forged pistons, ls3 heads, its has a warranty, its BRAND NEW, and its 5500 shipped from jegs. Like the fact its a factory motor made for boost. I like being able to just drop something in without much down time.

I hear ya... If I ever need an engine that will be hard to pass up.

Again, only reason I was asking the question is because its a fairly extreme answer for something that isn't a toy/race machine.

well its still a toy/street racer, but im really wanting something more for truck duties as well as kicking some ***!, LOL. Truck was starting to run hot towing my boat this summer, not sure if it was due to my crappy water pump or the trailblazer TC. I'll be changing back to a stock stall when im in there. Im sure those had somthing to do with it, but its not like I was towing all that much. ive towed more with the old 5.3 without these heating issues. moving up to a 75mm turbo also from the 62 that ive been running for the past 6-7 years.

I'd suggest calling them. I spoke to them a couple days ago. Super helpful guys. Ghey are making some changes to there short blocks that aren't posted on there website yet. They have iron and aluminum 5.7s. If you are wanting a warranty, they offer a 12 month warranty if you buy an oil pump from them. Not a bad deal and the price is right. There are several guys on here running TMS engines with good feedback. I will buy my next short block from them.
