Wow thats some tall numbers.
Ive got ~ 2700 in my turbo kit, 475 injectors, 250 dual 255 pumps, $900 80e, $125 HD2 shift kit, $90 nsw 80e torque converter, $150 wideband.

Towing with boost isnt gonna = better gas mileage. Lots more power but not mileage.
Once you get in boost, fuel demand goes up quite a bit.

from what iv heard towing with boost gets better mileage. Is that wrong. If your tune is right and you stay out of boost you can get decent milage. I can get 18mpg doing 60 on rural roads. I think thats fine for a 6.2l. I havent taken it on the highway yet so dont know what it will get there.

The numbers I posted were not for a DIY Turbo kit. I will agree you can save $ by doing a turbo IF you can fabricate the hot/cold side yourself and use the manifolds. Also, used components can readily be found to save even more.

The 4l80e can be found ~ $500 for a decent used unit. But you never really know what you're getting. Stock torque converter could be used for free but I was assuming a aftermarket one would be bought. That plus mounting and any other mods required to get it in the truck.

Quality tune = $400-$500 from what I have paid.

I just went through the same questions in my Head OP.

I have a 2006 GMc sierra 1500 2wd cc. I wanted to add F/I to help with towing, and help make the truck more enjoyable to drive. I looked at both options, and the biggest reason I went with a TVS 1900 is the same reason you should consider.

WE both live in Canada, the lack of Performance and Tuning facilities is cities is a complete joke. There are far more Pieces in the puzzle with a turbo, BOV, Waste gate, intercooler piping, etc. Lots of items to fail or slip off under boost. Last thing you need is to be stuck in the mountains with a dicked components and NO performance shops to speak of. Setting and maintaining a turbo setup when you don't have any reputable shops around to help is a nightmare...I own 2 turbo vehicles

The TVS kit is so basic, minimal components, and for towing....WOW, works great. I could not endorse it enough.

If your in Canada go to New Era in Rochester, NY and get a dyno tune. The tuner that comes with the SC is junk and only good to get you to a dyno. By the way you could just buy the SC from New Era. This is a tvs2300. even better and same price as a 1900

whoever said 2500 bucks for an nnbs 4x4 swap is probably right because everything i have read people go through hell and back and spend a crapload of money switching over with a gmt900. its not a gmt800 where people slip the junkyard find in and go.

towing sure the tvs1900 gets you low end torque but talking yesterday to mike he basically stated you probably wont feel any difference between the magnacharger and the whipple. tuning wise towing the whipple would be key because the IAT's go down 20-30 degrees which IMO is a no brainer.
