Yeah they came out with the 6 speed in '09 I believe but my truck still only has the 4 speed. Would a built up 4l60e be able to handle the extra torque and hp or should I just look into a 4l80e or 6l80e.

Thanks for the replies fellas.

If your towing 8500# more than a few times a month and plan on some good low end TQ from a SC, deff go 80E. Or your gonna be putting 3-4 clutchs in the 60E all the time.

Yea the TVS will be perfect for you... and they have a lot of potential if the bug bites you down the road. You didnt mention if the truck was a 2wd or a 4x4. The trans swap is much more involved for a 4x4.

TVS1900. or a Whipple tvs2300 will cost you the same money. There easy to install and reliable. You say you have 4.10 gears. Some one put them in? The 1500s never came with 4.10s. If you have a 6 speed there no reason to change the trany or really do anything. If you have a flex fuel your fuel pump will work for boost.

Yeah I forgot to mention that it is 4x4, but if the tranny is going to be a problem I'll just have to bite the bullet and put a heavier one in.

I don't know if the guy before put the 4.10's in or if they were stock, but my manual does have a tow rating for 4.10 gears. I just know going down the highway at 120km (70ish for my American friends) that I'm going at about 2400 rpm, which is pretty much the same as my dad's 3/4 ton with 4.10's.

I also took a look at that TVS1900 and the idea sounds great, but they are quite spendy. Granted the kit is complete, but even after buying a pump upgrade and injectors a basic turbo still might be cheaper (however I have no idea how much a tune costs, if someone could weigh in on that regard, that would be great), not to mention the turbo would prob give me better mileage. Not that I bought a truck for mileage, but it would be a perk. What do those superchargers do to mileage on average?

Lastly I was on the Trick Performance website trying to find some info on a basic front mount turbo, but that website is terrible, what are some other good front mounts that I could look into? Thanks again for all the replies fellas.

$500 for a dyno tune for FI and you will need a dyno tune not a data log tune unless it uses wide band o2 sensors.

1) if you think the turbo setup will be cheaper think again.
2) if you're worried about gas mileage keep it stock.

$6500 for supercharger

$2500 for 4L80E conversion

$500 tune

~$9500

I would just sell the truck and buy a diesel that will tow whatever 5th wheel you have and do so with ease.
