Default Max RWHP in a stock bottom end 5.3?

What do you think the 5.3 with a stock bottom end is capable of putting out and hold together?

I'm wanting to add the 2.6" upper pulley and an od bottom pulley, 60lb injectors, a 4" intake tube, 2 bar tuning and a 100 shot of nitrous.

Do you think the 5.3 will handle it if I keep max revs below 6500 and don't do that very often?

How much rwhp will a stock bottom end 5.3 handle? ... in your opinion?

100 shot? That a lot on top of that setup. Are chasing track times or just dyno numbers,

To add a little to what I posted earlier, I'm at about 800rwhp now and don't plan on stopping any time soon. That's about 15psi and my goal is 22-25

One thing to remember when you're combining nitrous with FI, is that MOST guys report higher hp gains than the "shot size". Meaning, a 35 shot may give a 65 hp gain on the dyno. I'm sure that the type of FI, and boost level, etc, all play a factor in this.

Hopefully some of the guys who are actually spraying their boosted setups will chime in with better input for you.

I'd be most concerned about bottom end torque messing stuff up, not high end hp. Bill's old truck was a 5.3 on 11psi with a 75 shot, and dynoed at 762rwtq, IIRC... Your pulley config should give you quite a bit more boost, and a 100 shot on top would make some nasty torque down low. Its definitely pushing it, theres some rod bending potential.

Most cases you would barely be able to feel something like a 50 shot with these heavy trucks. But on top of the turbo in my truck, its a healthy kick, theres no mistaking it.

Good point. Top end HP is different than TQ down low

I'm 68 years old and I drive this truck for giggles. I don't race. I will be dyno'ing soon for the first time and my tuner is experienced. I drive the truck only for fun around town and the goal is to blow away the Mustangs and ricers with short bursts of power.

I like/want to cruise around town and at 15 to 25 miles an hour and get on it for 5 second bursts and make smoke clouds! which cause the young crowd to gasp and cower.

That's it!

So........ what I want is torque. I won't be revving above 6500 or doing more than 100 at any time and I won't be pushing those limits very often. I usually break the tires loose and let off. The 4:56 geariing causes it to shift and the rev limiter to kick in very soon after I get on it... but it's a real treat for a few seconds!!

I guess I used the wrong terminology when I titled the thread and should have asked about how much POWER will a stock bottom end take. It's rod bending and/or journal breaking that worries me.

My question seems to be: will the bottom end of this 5.3 take the added boost I'm considering plus the 100 shot of nitrous.... or even a 150 shot of nitrous???

I sure want to go for it!

I will be running a 100 shot with a 2.6 supercharger pulley, and 10% OD crank pulley. More than likely I will add more nitrous later sown the line.
