everybody keeps saying use the maggie tune, (as so would I) but am I reading your first post right? You got a radix but don't have maggie's superchip tune for it? This a new radix purchase?

I believe he bought the kit from a friend. So no, he doesn't have the programmer. He is asking > Should he buy it from Magnuson then pay a tuner to modify that, or just pay the tuner to start with the stock tune.

got it. figured so. In that case this would be the first time I ever advised against a stock maggie tune. Why pay for it with intentions of changing it again, more importantly getting charged again later. Especially if you have one local to you. Use a reputable tuner, and heed Blownchevy's words...he advises using maggies tune for a very important reason...anything goes wrong, maggie knows those tunes are pretty rock solid. Anything not working properly is gonna be installer error. But on the pay twice thing, I'd take the risk of just custom tuning right away. ONLY cuz of the pay twice thing, which means I would just pick anybody to tune it. Too each his own though, most are every happy with the maggie stock tune and very well should be quiet frankly. Good luck!

The stock Magnuson tune I got for my truck was pretty damn good. Even with headers and a smaller pulley it worked ok but, I did have to back a couple more degrees of timing out with the smaller pulley.

I would just let Magnuson know the mods and go with one of their programmers. I doubt you really need a custom tune with those mods.
