Default Magnacharger question

I am a potential "newbie" looking for some guidance on a Magnacharger. I have the truck/mods listed in my signature. I think I would have a good foundation for a supercharger albeit maybe not the best cam but I think it would be OK. My truck is 100% street driven and am looking for some more power. At this time my budget will only allow me to get into the supercharger scene with purchasing a used one. Having said that, I think I would only be able to afford a Radix/MP112. I'm looking for great street torque that will still make power to my current redline of 6200 or so. I have read/heard some issues with the 112 having issues with IATs and poor heat transfer. Are there any remedies for this? Also, I have a newer style 90mm TB from a Trailblazer SS. Does anyone make adapters for the 112? Sorry for all these seemingly simple questions but I am new to supercharging. My last boosted vehicle was my 1986 Grand National so I am not new to power adders just on the LS engines. Thanks in advance for your help!

The MP112 gets a "bad rap" these days. But the fact remains that it is a solid performer when set up properly. Mine has done really well for me, and I'm not the only one. Many guys before me ran 11's with MP112's in heavier trucks than your RCSB.

I'm selling a 90mm J-tube if you're interested. https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...j-tube-507841/

I may also sell my intercooler ice tank, but haven't decided on that yet.

If you have specific questions about Radix, ask away.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have some basic questions as far as if I did purchase a used one, would I need to rebuild it prior to installing, are there some "must do" mods to the charger before installing it? What are the limitations of the unit?

Not much really goes wrong with them. I've seen many of them go over 100K with no problems along the way. Just a general cleanup, check for excessive slop, and install it. An injector flush might be a good idea...

I guess it mostly depends on the condition & completeness of the kit you find a good deal on. Used is not always "used up".

In addition to upgrading your inlet tract to 90mm as suggested above, you may want to contact SuperSub on here or take a look at his threads on phenolic spacers, as they divorce the upper intake manifold half and rotor housing from the conductive heating affects of the lower manifold / cylinder head connection. It also allows for the use of a larger intercooler, which will be helpful if you are looking at reducing IATs and/or dropping down to a smaller pulley than stock.

Meth injection is also helpful at curbing IATs and slight fuel enrichment.

Trick did make the spacer & larger intercooler for the MP112, but it's pricey. I know Supersub did the TVS spacers, but didn't ever hear about him making them for the MP112/122 blowers. Learn something new every day!

This isn't to the charger itself, but better put a tranny on the list as a must do mod... it won't be long till it

The tranny has already been replaced with a Performabuilt Level II unit and 3000 stall. Like I said above, I think my foundation is pretty good (except for the ideal cam) so I think this will really be fun on the street.
