Magnacharger heat exchanger relay issues
#1
anyone else having issues blowing their relay that runs the bosch water pump for the heat exchanger?
it seems like i have to replace the relay every other winter because it stops pumping. first time it happened about 5 years ago i ordered a whole new pump assembly, relay, and resevoir... turned out to be just the relay.

Mine has been running fine since I installed it in 2008 and my truck is my DD through Northern New England winters. Not sure if you have a bad connection or what. Either way I'd say its not the norm.

I installed mine in mid '06 and have replaced the relay about 3x already. Never had an issue for the first 4 years, it started when i moved from San Diego, CA to Chicago, IL... i wonder if the cold has anything to do with it. I rarely drive it, unlike you DD, and it has less than 50K on the clock.
thanks for confirming that it isn't normal.

If you aren't running antifreeze in your intercooler, just like your radiator, it will freeze. I suspect your pump is damaged, and drawing too much current.
If I'm right, you'll need a new pump and relay to fix it.

Very likely this, bet your pump is drawing too much.
