Maggie & Meth Question

Thanks for jumping in Kevin. Thunder 550 I have no doubt it works with your set up. the results speak for themselves. I was just passing along Kevin's advice (without trying to put him on the spot) for us radix guys. Like I said, I may do it at some point, I am just not there yet.

Ok, I apologize if I came off the wrong way. On mild setups, I agree 100% that it is not necessary. When you start to push the limits of what the Radix is capable of you end up with sky high IAT's and in some cases more boost than pump gas can handle. That's when methanol (or high octance race gas) becomes necessary. Doobie, I'll agree with the other guys on your particular setup....your money would be better spent elsewhere.

No offense taken Thunder 550. Mike, what type of boost are you expecting with a 3.3 pulley on a 5.3? I am now running a 2.9 on a 6.0 at about 7lbs. I am guessing you may be hitting more.

I am currently running the stock 3.4" pulley and making 6.6 psi of boost.
A 3.3" pulley should put me up to 7~7.2 psi.. My AFR is at 10.5 WOT so I should be able to do this with out tunning. Magnuson tunner recommends nothing higher than 12.1 AFR so I should be on the safe side with a max 11.5 afr.. I might check out New ERA and see if they can do anything for my tune. Lyndon (Westers) has my tune pretty close. I dynoed last fall at 400 rwhp. and 410 ft/lbs. at 5400rpm.(speed limiter cut in).
I read that you went to ERA for some tunning...would you recommend them?
I may just pay for a few pulls and send the data logs to Lyndon for a closer retune. ERA seemed expensive ($350.00) for a tune that is probably 95% spot on. I had Lyndon raise WOT shift points by 200rpm, speed gov. to 130mph, raised rev limiter to 6000rpm and prevent TCC lockup till 54mph. I know this is conservative but I will eventually raise some of these #s on my next tune.
Open to any and all recommendations. Thanks again guys.

I was going to do either WCCH heads or Magnuson as of last spring. I decided to go with the maggie when I saw a used one from a member come up for sale on this sight. Under 5k miles and price was right. I have no regrets, only. Without forged internals, I will keep the boost under 7.5 psi and and keep IAT low enough so I wont need meth. The experienced members posting here helped me make this decision. That is as far as I will go with it for now. Tru-trac will go in this spring.
