Question M85/Water injection?

M85 is 85% methanol and 15% gasoline, I want to try watering it 50/50 and spraying my boosted truck. Has anybody tried this?

It won't work, The 15% gas will not mix with the water and will separate from the Methanol and sit on top of it once you add the water.

I've had this happen, I got some meth that had been stored in an old race fuel drum. Even though there was only a small amount of race gas left in the drum when they put the meth in it, when I mix water with it, I would always get a thin film of red race gas setting on top of it when a let it sit for a while.

One tablespoon of alcohol will emulsify a cup of water in a gallon of gas.
That is why all of your fuel water removers contain alcohol.
Maybe the race gase has a liter specific gravity. I still don't know why it won't emulsify.

Like KBracing 96 said, the water will seperate from the gas. You also can't run it 100% in conventional Methanol injections kits. Jose over at Alky Control told me even a trace amount of gasoline will destroy the seals in the Methanol pump and cause it to fail.

You are right, the water will mix with the Meth, but then the meth will no longer stay in solution with the gas since water and gas will not mix. The water/meth mix is heaver then the gas, so they will now separate from the gas and it will set on top of it. Just because water and meth will emulsify doesn't mean the meth will still emulsify with gas.

If you don't believe me, try it. take some of your M85, and pour some water in it in a clear container. After it sets for a little while, you will see the gas setting on top of the meth. It is a good way to separate the meth from the gas though if you wanted to just run a water/meth mix.

Thanks for the info. I wonder how they keep it mixed in the tank at the station?

There's no water in it, once you add the water, the two are no longer soluble.

You don't want the water anyway.

Run straight meth -- what you give up in chemical intercooling is more than made up for by the extra fuel (the meth itself).

TurboBerserkr, Is it OK to use straight meth in the new AEM recirculating pump?
