LS7 cam?
#1
So I’ve been pondering the idea of boosting my 5.3 for about a month now, and I’m starting to look at different cams and such. Not looking for crazy *** power since it’s my DD and 4x4. I have been considering an LS7 cam for the split duration 211/230. What do you guys think on this cam for my build?

You're going to leave alot of tq and response out of boost on the table with that cam IMO. Are you going turbo or supercharger? For turbo on the cheep a LS3 cam would prob work decent.

Agree with 48 if you're going turbo. If the cam is under a TVS, it would work well. It's just a narrower LSA version of the LS9 cam that GM uses in the 2.3L TVS blown ZR1 vettes. I think the LS9 cam is a 122 LSA vs the LS7's 120 LSA. Same lift and duration. The narrower LSA should help the bottom end a little. A custom grind matched to your exact needs would be better.....but, you can't beat the price of the LS7 cam. Similar specs to the GT2-3 cam for a whole lot less cabbage. They routinely sell used for about a hundred bucks with low miles. You can use the stock LS2, LS6, or LS3 yellow springs. Those springs can be had for a song too.
Have you looked into what it would take to make it work in your motor? Cam sensor etc? If you have to buy additional parts to make it work, it may not be worth the trouble.
