Default LS6 cam good for turbo?

I posted this over on LS1 Tech but I thought I would see what the truck guys say.....

I am putting a STS turbo kit on my 6 liter. The turbo is a GT67 which I am told is good for about 750 crankshaft hp. Obviously I want to squeeze as much power as I can out of this combo. I have a set of stage 2 heads from ET Performance, and I need a cam recommendation. I really would like to stick with a smooth idle/gas mileage friendly cam. I am thinking LS6 but which one would work best with a turbo....the 2001, or the newer ones?

Are there any other off the shelf cams that would work well with the turbo? TIA

The 2001 has less lift, slightly bigger LSA, and slightly less duration. The bigger LSA would be more friendly for boost but I'm not sure how it would be on the top. The 2001 cam in my 383 was a torque monster but kinda laid over above 4500rpm. The boost might overcome this deficiency else the 2002+ cam would be an ideal choice over a custom grind.

Im really like the GT2-3 camshaft,it makes good power everywhere in the rev range[I lost some power at higher revs when I switched from my 228/234 setup, but not a lot],it idles well[smooth at 725 rpm],it gives good vacuum about 20 in/hg at crusing speeds and revs freely to my 6800 rpm rev limiter.I think the GT2-3 would out perform a ZO6 cam by a considerable margin.

I like the 02 cam as far as streatability goes, but I think performance wise my set up would be alot stronger with a turbo grinded cam shaft. I think I am getting about 700fwhp from the t67 right now, maybe a little under 800tq. If I had a better cam, it would be same or more power at less boost. Alittle head work wouldn't hurt either. Good luck with the kit.
