Default low mount ?'s

So I've been looking at some of the older low mount setup posts. All of them are old it looks like.. Is there a reason that everyone has gone to front mounts??? I really like the idea of them down there for several reasons. Any input??

Some reasons against low mounts that I can think of would be, you gotta figure out how to run your inlet pipe and air filter, gotta get the cold pipe forward to the intercooler which means you might have to go under the cross member and steering rack (not a big deal with clearances of a truck), might need a scavenge pump to drain the oil, harder to work on, turbo would be more in the elements (rain, dirt, etc).

Some reasons for it would be a stealthier look, less exhaust piping under the hood, no need for a custom log manifold, and having the turbo right under the truck like that just HAS to sound awesome.

I contemplated the low-mount kit but no one makes them anymore like you said (not sure why). You might be able to find one of Trick's old kits.

I ran a STS kit for a few years.
It was ok but constantly cleaning the air filter and worrying about the oil pump. I carried a spare in my tool box just incase so i wouldnt get stranded.

Trick Performance and KBracing made the front mounts possible for a budget price and it spools much better.

Fewer oiling issues with a front mount and I know living in the salt belt I would not want it down low. Obviously it's nice for the stealth look and cooler underhood but also not allot of room underneath upfront.

We built a few, but they never really caught on. WE mounted the turbo right under the passenger side manifold, and routed the crossover to it. Like mentioned before, pipe routing and pumbing is the hardest part. You can route air filter anywere up and away from water..

I think the main reason ppl stray from the low mounts know is the oiling concerns. With a properly setup low mount, I would imagine the spool would be pretty good, but I would always be worried about the oil pump going out. Maybe you can run one of those oil-less turbos
