to that point, i asked him to clarify that it meant the DryTech flows that much higher CFM than the Pro-5 but with the same filtration efficiency... and he said yes. on a side note: he said since i mentioned we're tuning the truck anyway for that + some other mods, they could still swap for the dry filter... but they've had some supplier issues & couldn't build any at the time. his advice was to check back sometime this month.
good information to know. Had i l known, i probably would have gotten that. Instead, I opted to get the donanldson powercore filter. Supposedly if filters much better, but it didn't say how well it flows. it'd be nice to have the higher flow when i want it, but WOT is a rare thing for me so i didn't think it was necessary. Since the truck sees less that 5K miles a year and i don't do much "performance" stuff anymore (rarely go above 2-3psi boost) i figured i'd get the old Grandpa filter and not have to worry about it for the next few years except brush it off or use some compressed air to clean it.
To Volant's credit, my original Pro-5 filter that came with the kit lasted about 16 years before it needed to be replaced. Probably been threw a dozen or so washes and always had a prefilter.

yeah, the powercore filter is too big around to fit inside the airbox for ours. i asked today after he said they still don't have an ETA for new drytech filters (still a supplier problem)

and to close the loop on their different filters (of which, the PowerCore is the best overall due to its proprietary fabric):

DryTech 3D filters trap more dirt and dust than oiled cotton gauze while providing lots of airflow. They also have extended service intervals of up to 50,000 miles depending on your driving conditions. The filter’s synthetic fiber fabric resists water saturation, dropping drying time to as little as two hours. If you can’t wait that long, just vacuum off the surface dirt or dust and you’re good to go.

PowerCore filters are the most efficient Volant offers. They use Donaldson’s PowerCoreŽ filtration technology to trap submicron contaminants on the filter element’s surface instead of deep inside the pleats. That makes them ideal for dusty and dirty conditions like off-roading and construction sites. The filters don’t need oiling or cleaning and are water-resistant.
PS: Corsa & Volant get their filters from the same place.
