Default Livernois kit??

My 2000 silverado has 80000 miles on it. I was thinking of buying the livernois kit. Would adding boost to this engine with the mileage be a problem? Also, what tuning changes would be a must for the initial install? I have HPTuners.

Doesn't use any oil. I have taken very good care of this motor.

I built a turbo for my 91 S-10 with 180,000 miles on it, it worked great, even though everyone tried to tell me that 2.8 v-6's where POS's and it would blow up. Put 10,000 hard miles on it before I sold it. Ran good with 6 lbs of boost.

Are most of you guys tuning for boost yourself or having it done? Is the added heat uner the hood going to be a big factor? What kind of power are you guys seeing with the standard kit/stock motor combo? Do you use any kind of boost controllers or anything? I have always been a nitrous guy and I am just starting to research the FI side.

I've done all my own tuning on the STS kit with EFILive. Wasn't too hard, as my motor is stock other then the bigger injectors and the turbo. I would wrap the turbo with a blanket and make any heat shield where the headers could be a problem. And also try to keep the intake air sealed to cold air.

I mean the kit is intended for a bolt on application right? I have heard that as little as 5psi boost can really hurt the stock LS1 motor because of the higher compression.

People have run as much as 12psi on a stock bottom end with proper tuning. Proper tuning is the key to making your motor last.
