Default Lingenfelter ASA restricter for Procharger guys

Posts will pop up from time to time from Procharger guys wanting to pulley down to increase low rpm boost and limit the top end. Here'e your chance to be the PTNet guinea pig on the cheap...

3.900 OD so you would probably need to use a silicone reducer to plumb it after the air filter but before the head unit.

that isn't going to make more boost down low, well. it is, but the engine wont runa any better...

It's just an restrictor plate.Been doing them a long time. The purpose is to over pulley the blower which helps build boost in the low rpm area's then the plate limit's the max boost. The biggest problem with them are the stress on the drive belt.

I would rather just run the high boost and cut timing in the tune up top.

I guess it depends on your definition of "run any better" but from what I've read on here and on some other forums (LS1tech, Corvetteforums, Modular Depot, HardcoreLS1 to name a few), one of the two options to make up for the inherently soft low rpm performance of a centrifugal superchargers is a restrictor plate in the intake track. It seems like it would have it's drawbacks in causing the engine to run the blower extra hard at the high end of the engine's RPM range, it would increase the rate of boost and make the motor produce more bottom end. Since I haven't personally tried this myself, I can't say for certain if it would work but from what I've read, it seems to have potential. When I had my Procharger kit, I pullied down and tried short-shifting to limit the boost. It had a tremendous effect on the bottom end but I couldn't depend on myself to limit RPM and not overboost the engine.

Since I mentioned two options, the second I've read about involved using a wastegate on the cold side to release boost prior to the MAF to control the peak boost numbers. Sounds like another possible solution albeit a more expensive project than the restrictor plate.

As Slowhark already mentioned, either solution will no doubt cause more stress on the belt system. When using the restrictor plater, the supercharger would contain to absorb the required HP to drive against the restriction and increase IAT's. In regards to the wastegate solution, I would guess that since the supercharger can't freewheel, it would also cause some drive belt stress associated with the high RPM's of the pulley (namely belt slip and stress on the bearings) but I think it would only continue to absorb the required HP to maintain the desired boost.

I have really been thinking about making some type of waste gate or secondary bypass of some kind to limit top end boost... Hell I might just run a wasgate spring by itself on the intake tube, to pop open to bleed off boost.. There was a write up on tech about a guy trying it

ahh, I get it.... seams a like a different style air pump would be a better fit...
