Default Lets talk cam vs Force induction

My truck 08 AWD denali 6.2 with 100K on the clock that I daily drive and use to pull my boat on the weekends

Goal are to be in the high 12's and if I can do that with a tire close to a 33" even better, but I can swap out for track days if I need too. I just want to keep up with some of my diesel buddy's with built trans and max out stock turbo and stock injectors. I just got rid of an 08 duramax with the same things done and I would like to get back to that. I don't feel like the 6.2 is to far behind in its stock form though.

Can I get there with just a cam. It would be much cheaper than a TVS but I would still like to have one some day.

Can I get a cam now that won't kill my bottom end that will still work for a blower down the road.

Or do I need a TVS to touch the 12's or a Blower and Cam

If you do get a tvs, do not run it with the stock cam. You won't be able to run any timing with it..

You could hit 12's with a cam and converter... but it may be more cam than you want to run in your truck as a daily driver. The TVS is a sure way to get there. I just went 11.43 with a cammed 6.0 in an 05 Denali and the smaller TVS1900.

A doubt you will touch the 12s in such a heavy truck cam only. With a big monster cam and stall you can get there. However, you will lose some towing with that type of setup. If this were my personal truck and I was thinking TVS in the future I would buy a TVS friendly cam and boltons. My parts list would look about like this.
Cam kit with either a 210/218 or 216/224 cam depending on how aggressive you want to be.
Longtube headers 1 7/8" primaries 3" ypipe into 4" single exhaust thru a big body magnaflow
Custom live tune
Transmission shift kit
You will add around 75rwhp with those mods without losing bottom end.
When you are ready for the TVS it will run efficiently and you can crank it up.

thanks

I got the 1-7/8 on the way and the tune.

I like what gamble686 said, that sounds pretty good. I didn't know the stock cam doesn't work well with the TVS 1900. I thought I read on here about people putting down alittle over 500 rwhp with just TVS 1900 or 2300 with stock cam and injectors.
