^^^^There is your problem, if it sets a knock sensor code, which will take too trips to set the light it will pull exactly 8* of timing whenever you are in PE (power enrichment). Even if you don't clear the codes but do have a succesfull drive cycle the PCM will again think it is in control and you will see substantially less KR (that is why it is "moody"

Fix your know sensor issues (pinched wire, poor connection, etc). Were your old KS corroded due to water invasion? If so there is a good chance you have corrosion on the terminal that plugs onto the KS. Time to tear the intake back of. Do not tune vehicles or even monitor anything until you get the codes taken care of. Good luck, let us know what fixes it.
