I could be wrong but aren't the top fuel dragsters that kind of blower with
8,000 hp or am I mistaken.

You are correct, they use 8-71 roots blowers....technology from the 1960s

They definitely don't use 8-71s. They are much bigger than that. I believe they run 14-71s if I remember correctly.

I will let you know once I get mine back together. I am expecting ~750 with the new setup. It won't be quite maxed out on the blower side, so there will still be a little room to grow by pulleying down. Numbers are not dyno confirmed but based off time and weight I calculated ~630 from my best time with the previous setup. Kenne Bell claims to have several 800+ cars with the 3.6LC. However, if I ever decide to go over the limits of the 2.8L KB, I will likely go Procharger due to the reasons Atomic mentioned earlier. It is tough to plant that much torque off idle. Adding in a hard hitting converter makes matters even worse. I like the idea of boost ramping up a little slower with the centrifugal. I love the instant torque of a twin-screw but I can see why more people don't use them for extremely high hp builds. Above 6-700hp, the low end torque is just too violent and hard to manage for most street car.

so why cant they make them more efficient? I say let them make all the power they can.
