Two of which will be welded onto my flanges (intake inlet and blower outlet), the other three will replace the 3 silicone ones already in the circuit. I should have them welded up tomorrow and installed Friday/Saturday. This sucker has been 3 weeks getting done.......im getting really antsy to get it on the road again. Can't wait to feel the difference. I hope i dont have any problems welding the cast aluminum...i have read its more difficult to weld than regular plate aluminum. Where i bought it from, It specifically said great for welding....so we will see.

Don't worry about cast aluminum. Just make sure it good and clean. Cast aluminum is a little bit more porus than forged, but nowhere near the difference between cast iron, and steel. Completely different animals.

I recently up-graded my air to air intercooler. I had it bulit by PWR and it has a 32" x 24" fin area. They build to size and it is rated at 1500 cfm. I only had a 1 psi pressure drop. It is really noisy though. Under boost it completely drowns out the Magnaflow exhaust and anything else near by. You can actually hear the wine at least two blocks or more away. Maybe with open headers the engine might drown out the intercooler whine, but it would be close. At idle and normal driving it sounds perfectly normal as the twin screw chargers are virtually silent.

Thanks for the info but that project was scraped a while back. Went with the Whipple A2W and its been great! 90* humid days and the IATs never go above 120*. If i go WOT, they will actually drop a little through the run.

Did you use a KB intercooler or get one off ebay? I plan on fabbing one up for my whipple in the next couple months.

JamesBond seems to be MIA, I have been trying to get ahold of him... If you have any intercooler questions I would be happy to answer them for you.. Just let me know.

Question Radiator hose location?????

Where did you route the radiator neck going into the motor? No room to leave it in the stock location....did you turn it 180 degrees or something? Any pics? I would like to do this on my whipple set up....thanks.

I ended up getting another new hose tonight, and rerouting it back like it was stock. I always hated that the hot coolant was running right under the intake hat.

Here's a short vid I took after we fired it up... You can see the radiator hose at the beginning of the vid.

I'm going to have to check this out a little. You definitely peaked my interest here. I'm running an 00 Sierra with the 5.3L and a Whipple and have always thought there must be someway to i/c it. For those that have the Whipple, how are you going about routing everything? How much cost is involved and who makes the actual intercooler and other parts that I would need? After the install do you need to retune your PCM? Thanks

If you want to go A2W, i know you can mod the 8.1L intercooler to work on a small block. The blower is on the other side i know, but with some custom pipe and flanges, it should work just fine. The H/X, reservior, and everything else would remain the same. Look at my sig, thats the 8.1L intercooler. The "project" section of my website should be done by the end of the weekend and I will go into the intercooler (Whipple and DMAX) installation in more detail. You can just click on my sig for the site.
