No, the pistons/heads aren't where the strength of the 4.8 comes from, its the shorter stroke that helps them resist detonation. Thats what differentiates them from all other LS based engines

I'm pretty sure all the NNBS 4.8s and 5.3s both have flat top pistons and 799/243s....making the LY2 4.8L 9.1:1 compression.

This thread dang sure got my attention.. Plans to pull the ole 4.8 and build a LS2 just got put on hold until i do some more homework on boosting a 4.8.....

awesome man even on rims, i like to see that, that is my goal 500rwhp on a oosted 4.8 slowly getting there lol
