Are you wanting a complete intercooler, or just a core? If you're looking for a core, I've had great luck with both CSF and Vibrant cores. The only complete intercooler I used was a Mishimoto tube and fin core intercooler with a Procharger P1SC , and my IATs would climp 60°-70° F during a 3rd gear pull on the street. When I went turbo, roughly same boost pressure and a little more horsepower, my IATs would only climb 5° F during a 3rd gear pull.

Not knowing your combo and your goals, its not easy to say, but most likely a $1500 IC is not needed
Id like to be less than $1,000 for an IC if possible and my goal in the end is 900 to 1000 horsepower and it's a street truck with a few track passes a year is all

So to add to your answers, an 18x24x4 IC is too big.
Thanks for help with the size I appreciate it

I have the "1200hp" A/W kit from Frozen Boost. Ive had it for like 8yrs, I bought it when they where $399. Its made a lot of power and dealt with 12psi for a long time. On a good night it will even be ~5* above ambient under a full pull

I dont know if it can do 1200hp, but it can do 500 no problems. They are a little more pricey now, so I dont know if the performance per dollar is worth it

Water to Air Intercooler
Thanks, I read a to w is best for the track. I guess I should have said that in my original thread. Great reading material though

I am open to either or although I prefer complete. I do have a buddy that can weld the ends on no problem.

A/W is the best, period: until your pump dies or your heat exchanger takes a rock and springs a leak

There are many different cores on the market.
Even the common eBay stuff. There is many difference in fin design, fin pack, tube thickness, type of tubes.
Bar/plate are the most common. Extruded tune is another.

I have cut several cores apart over the years. The internal channels packed full of fins, to just straight tubes you see through.
Hi flow doesn’t mean it will cool well. Great cooling doesn’t mean it flows well.
It is a balance act. Most of the cooling happens in the first 6-9” of the intercooler. That’s where the inlet air to ambient air has the largest temp difference.
I feel the best design is a 12-14” total tube length, and as many as you can stack.
I look at flow area in sq. Inches.
most eBay cores in this market are 12” tall by either 3 or 4” thick. 24” wide core.
now this next match is not exact but simple and gets the point.
So let’s use the 4” one. That only gives you 48” of flow area.
Our 3” thick monster core. 23 tall 3” thick 12” tube.
that 69” of flow area.
This allows us to cool the air because more area to glow through. Less pressure drop because the tubes aren’t as long. It just Dyno’d 900hp @25psi.
We are about to swap to the 4”. See if we can pick up some hp.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the information Rick, I sent you a text yesterday asking about the 5 inch availability.
