Default Injector size to rwhp

I was wondering if I will have to change out my Accel 44# injectors if I decide to bite the bullet and rebuild the 5.7 with forged internals in order to crank up the boost... Say 550 to 600 rwhp???

What is your fuel pressure and what pressure are the injectors rated at?

If they are truly 44# injectors at your fuel pressure 550-600rwhp will be cutting it close. You have a meth kit though I see so that will help with fueling a little too. If it's not tough for you to do with the programming options you have then upgrading injectors may be the best thing to do if you're gonna up the power.

I would agree with what XLR8NSS had to say and add that the things to look for would be duty cycle of the injectors at max torque... if you are anywhere north of 80% I would look into a larger injector. And keep an eye on fuel pressure because if it drops AT ALL you will need to consider fuel delivery upgrades as well.

Last time I checked the 44's were at 75% duty cycle at around 9#s.. So looks like I will need to keep an eye on the fuel pressure.. Thanks

On the Lightning the stock 42's are done at 475-500 rwhp max, and that's at 60 psi. I'd be looking at a larger injector for your goals.

The SRT-4 Stage 0/1 injector is 50# and the stage 2 injector is 62ish#. You could also put in an FMU with additional pump to drive your 44# injectors. Maybe set it to come on about 7 or 8psi if need be. Or...build in a return style fuel system and throw on a Kenne Bell boost a pump with your current injectors.

Buy a laptop and learn to tune that Tec 3r!

Here is a fuel injector sizing calculator. For forced induction, estimate BSFC to be 0.6 to 0.7 . Usually .65 is used

Returnless is probably an issue. What is the fuel pressure doing in the upper rpms?

Accel rates there injectors at 3 bar(43.5 psi) but the '03 Ram runs at 48 psi and the '04+ Ram runs at 4 bar(58 psi). According to the fuel injector calc you should have run out of fuel already.

I wonder if your 5000ft elevation has anything to do with it. Put in some 60 lb units just to be sure.
