Default I'm torn.

After Reading several inquiries on here as to which FI method to choose I am still torn. I am looking to take the 6.2 to the next level. When I compare the prices of a single mount intercooled kit to a maggie, the turbo Kit is a true bargain. Yet everytime someone ask for a reliable system, everyone says the maggie is what you need. What are the main reasons for this? Are turbos not reliable? Help me understand because a tvs 2300 plus a quality set of headers is thousands more. Does one have an advantage over the other when it comes to installation? Please dont link the comparison sticky at the top of this forum. I have read it several times over and it doesnt answer the questions I have ask.

Maggie has a complete kit, that you can bolt on and go. Gives good power and has a good rep. But if you want to make more power you need to swap pulleys. No biggie but still has to be done, then you are always at that new pulley.

Turbos are reliable, but very easy to add more power. And the driver to have some common-since when using, like no full throttle stuff till the engine is completely warmed up, no shutting it off right after heavy boosting, etc. Common since stuff.
So you can easily go past what you thought you wanted in the beginning. A simple boost controller and you can go from 7-10 to 14psi plus. This creates all kinds of problems if you do not have the supporting mods.

Turbos are fun, blowers are fun, so it come down to the final goal..

Let me know if I can help, how far is Atoka, from Wichita Falls tx.

I would say you will spend around the same amount of money for either if you build a good turbo kit you will have just as much money in it as a maggie... Maggie and headers are easier to install IMHO and also less odd and end parts you will need, but like Trick said if you want big power down the road you can always slap a different turbo on there! Check this sticky out it will help you more than i can

2 Questions you need to answer.

How / where do you want your power??

Do you want Whine or whistle??

Ive had/have both. They are both awesome.

The off idle power of a blower is unmatched and soo much fun.

The turbo setups sound so fricken sweet and once spooled seem to keep pulling and pulling.

Each has its own benefits and drawbacks, but both kickass!!

Forced Induction Rules.

Whine or a whistle is a excellent question. I haven't experienced either. Whistle might have an slight edge though. The instant response of magnacharger makes me wonder if I will be able to hook. Might just have to learn to ease into it. Good things to ponder. You just added to the equation. lol

Also a good thing to know is that turbo power comes in a little more linear than superchargers and definetly more linear than N2O. This is a little easier on the motor over time due to less "instant" stress. I know some may say it couldn't be measured, but it is a fact that it's more linear. Also turbos feel like they could just keep pulling and pulling.
Maggies are also good in their own respects and as stated they are easier to slap on and be ready. If you tow alot you may want the maggie. Either way you'll be happy with your purchase I think.

I cant say much as far as from experience but I can say that In my decision I ended up purchasing a turbo kit over the superchargers. To me if you are keeping it simple a turbo setup isnt much more if not the same as the superchargers.

Things that you need to add to the price of a turbo kit:

1-fuel pump
2-fuel injectors
3-tune
4-exhaust for after the turbo downpipe
5-minor PCV system mods
6-torque converter(not absolutely necessary, but worth it)
7-whatever else I'm forgetting about while I'm enjoying this ice cold beer.

When you compare "apples to apples", the pricing to do either one properly is actually very close to the same.

So you really need to identify just what you really WANT to get out of the setup, then decide.
