Default I'm retarded

So I attempted to start my STS install today and never made it past step #1: Tap the fuel pump wire for oil return pump. I can't find the correct "gray wire" to save my life. I spent 3 hours under the hood with a test light and have completely struck out. So, I am retarded. Any suggestions on how to find that little bugger?

Umm yeah, it is the 14 gauge gray wire coming out of the computer. There are two different runs of wires coming out. It is in the lower run. It will look bigger than the others.

Driver side engine bay. Big black box. Coming out on engine side toward the bottom. There are two wire looms coming out, your wire is in bottom loom.

I'll try that tomorrow. The guide had me looking in the top loom. Is the bottom loom the one that breaks off and heads towards the rear of the truck? I checked that one as well thinking it might be the one, but didn't have much luck there either. Lots of red 14 gauge wires, no gray though. I know I am gonna want to kick my own *** when I finally figure this out. Thanks for the tips though.

It will only have power for the first few seconds when the key is turned on and when the engine is running. If you were testing for voltage with the key on, you would not have found it even if you had the right wire.

I'm stupid, but not that stupid. I know which wire I'm looking for, I know why I am looking for it, I even know what it is supposed to look like and how to find it with the testwire. As Rick Squires joked with me, "maybe I have the new wireless technology!" Basically I have figured out I am looking in the wrong spot, the picture isn't very clear at all.

Not as dumb as I thought. Directions have me looking in the wrong spot. Trigger wire is in the bundle that was indicated, but it was green, not gray. Think I have it nailed now.

I have never known GM to use anything other than grey. Here is the wiring diagram . Let me know if I can help.

Slowec: YOU RULE.

I've been looking for that wiring diagram, and it confirmed several things that I have been told. The loom STS indicated contains the green/white trigger wire. NOT the gray wire. Gonna find the gray wire today and I know exactly where to look. The curse of a pre-production kit. You get a good deal but you have to figure out some of the stuff on your own....
